No Joy in THIS Cooking--Recipes Can Make You Fat

From Yahoo Health. Not only is portion control out of control, but recipe ingredient updates with more and more processed foods and more heavily-caloried foods (such as meats for beans) have caused homemade favorites to grow out of proportion with recipes that started in 1930's cookbook editions, even though the rest of the recipe hasn't changed since then.

It looks like Depression-era cooking using Depression-era recipes is the way to go at home.

Not to mention cooking from scratch burns more calories! Depression area people worked harder and ate less, no wonder they were healthier.

What food they DID eat was also healthier--no depleted soil, not as many pesticides, fertilizers, and chemicals for preservation, no genetic modification, and what meat they DID manage to get their hands on was grass-fed, or at least on a species-appropriate diet (no soy back then).

Nowadays, we're cutting too many corners trying to get to market, and compromising health along the way.

I sincerely believe high-fructose corn syrup didn't exist back then--only regular corn syrup.
