Jaden and the Giant Cabbage

Jaden Webster of Oquirrh Elementary in West Jordan was the state winner in the National Bonnie Plants Cabbage Program for growing this monster crucifer. He won a $1,000 savings bond from the seed company.

The program is designed to get kids interested in gardening --- getting them to actually eat cabbage is a whole ‘nother issue.

I just wish my crucifers could get through a season without getting eaten by the cabbage borer worm! These guys like collards, squash, and even broccoli.
