From the U.K. Daily Mail. I'm wondering why we have to hear about this from Britain!
"She's an enthusiastic gardener and has already transformed the White House South Lawn into a thriving vegetable patch.
Now Michelle Obama is set to share her gardening tips with the rest of us in a book about growing your own food.
The U.S. First Lady, whose deal with the Crown Publishing Group was announced today as she prepared the ground for the new spring crops, will also offer advice on healthy eating as well as some of her family's favourite recipes.
She said: 'We've gotten food out of the garden, and we can eat it and it's good.
'So we wanted to share the story with the rest of the nation and perhaps with the rest of the world, because we get so many questions about the garden: How did we do it? Why did we do it? How do I do this in my own home or community?'
Though this is her first book, Mrs Obama, 47, said that she wasn't apprehensive about the prospect.
'I don't know why I'm not really nervous about it. Maybe I don't know enough to be nervous yet,' she admitted.
'I hope it will be a beautiful book, as well, something that everyone can take something away from.
Maybe if you're a local gardener yourself, you'll be drawn by the pictures of the garden in its various stages throughout the seasons.
'If you're a kid, maybe you'll pick up the book and read along with your teachers, and look at how we've incorporated young people in our garden.'

Mrs Obama has not received an advance from the publishing house, and all proceeds from the sale of the book, to be published in April next year, will be donated to charity.
The mother-of-two has been a strong advocate for locally grown food and last year started the Lets Move anti-obesity campaign.
Since the Obamas' arrival at the White House, the garden has yielded more than 2,000lb of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Crown said that the book will be 'inspirational and instructive, and will provide ideas and resources for readers to get involved in the movement to create community, school and urban gardens, support local farmers' markets, and make small lifestyle changes to achieve big health results.'
Mrs Obama added that she would be seeking the opinion of her husband, who has written two best-sellers and is widely regarded as among the most literary presidents.
'I will definitely have him be involved and look at it,' she said. 'Barack is a wonderful writer and he's a wonderful writer on so many different fronts.'
She continues a First Lady tradition in writing a book to address a favourite cause.
Hillary Clinton wrote It Takes a Village, about the importance of community in raising children, and Laura Bush collaborated with daughter Jenna on a picture book about a reluctant reader, titled: Read All About It!"
Why is Michelle the only one on the hill that's bothering to tell us what we can do for ourselves? Her husband and his power-groupies seems to only want to tell us what to do!

...lol...I knew you couldn't get thru an Obama post without a lil' snark thrown in at the very end! :o)
...I for one am an Obama supporter, he's by far better than the last one we had. Everyone seems to complain about where we are at this point but no one stops to think where we would BE if the previous office would've stayed another term - GAH! :o\
...Blessings... :o)
Wonderful story. I am proud of our First Lady's efforts and commitment to getting the word out on childhood nutrician and obesity. Gardening is a simple task each of us should do more of to increase the health of ourselves and our children. I applaud all she is doing and I can't wait for the book!
